Norwegian Church Aid (NCA), Christian Aid (CA), and DanChurchAid (DCA) are working together in Zambia, through the implementation of a Joint Country Programme. NCA is the lead agency in this JCP, working together with local partner organisations within programmes of Economic Empowerment, Resource Governance, Gender Based Violence and Emergency preparedness and response.

As Country Director you are responsible to manage and motivate the highly competent team based in Lusaka towards the JCP’s mandate, strategic targets and in line with the MoU signed with DCA and CA. You will be responsible for overseeing programmes, financial management, fundraising, security, partnership development, donor coordination and reporting, as well as interacting with other organisations in the country and partner / funding agencies in the UK, Denmark and Norway.
This is a three year contract with August 2018 as start date.

Location: Zambia. Zambia is a family duty station.

Duties and responsibilities

  • Provide strategic leadership to the JCP in Zambia and work to further develop the Programme in line with NCA, CA and DCA’s overall priorities and strategies.
  • Build networks and communications, both locally and internationally, to strengthen and diversify the funding base and support for JCP’s programmes in Zambia.
  • Responsible for the operational management of the JCP, which includes overseeing the finance, human resource and administration function.
  • Develop and oversee the collaboration with partners, including capacity building and professional development.
  • LEAN internal processes to make JCP most efficient.
  • Interact with CA and DCA’s head and regional offices to foster and strengthen ownership of, and participation in, the joint programme.
  • Responsible for strengthening the relations in Zambia, including representation and networking with official authorities, donors, partners and other ACT Alliance organizations.
  • Ensure adequate security management for all activities in their areas, according to the global standards and guidelines.

Qualifications

  • Demonstrated and solid strategic leadership experience in the context of development aid.
  • Experience with fundraising, networking, and managing donor relations as well as a proven ability to fundraise
  • Solid experience in programme management, including planning, monitoring, evaluation and report writing.
  • Experience working with financial management, administration and HR.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and build teams.
  • Experience with representation and working closely with faith-based organizations, donors, UN agencies and partners.
  • Relevant higher university degree.
  • Solid English communication skills, both verbally and written
